Independent Power Producer Administration
The IPP Administrators (IPPAs) refer to qualified independent entities to be appointed after public bidding by PSALM who will administer, conserve and manage the contracted energy output of National Power IPP contracts.
Role of IPP Administrators
These are among the tasks that the appointed IPPAs must handle:
- Bid the IPP energy output into the WESM in a manner which optimizes its running hours and net revenues taking into account of the cost and price structure in the contract and expected patterns of behavior in the market.
- Seek to negotiate bilateral contracts with customers and/or sell options (including a variety of financial instruments) or insurance capacity.
- Ensure that PSALM payment obligations under the IPP contracts are minimized.
